Listen collectors and you shall hear, Of the Mulready covers of yesteryear. In 1840, on the 6th of May Were required all letters to prepay. Hardly a collection is known today To have a cover of this type to display. (With apologies).
In 1940 the centenary of prepaid postage will be celebrated. While the one penny black is well known, little is known of the events that lead up to this and to the part played by the Mulready. Very few collections contain specimens of this early postal paper and many collectors . . .
