The Best of Stamp News Publishing (SNP)

Greetings!

We were off to a snow-interrupted start here earlier this week (including a windshield shattered by falling ice), thus the delay in getting this issue to you. Nevertheless, instead of giving in to all that white stuff in the air and on the ground, we start this issue off with two colorful articles in one, Barcelona Part 2 by Geir Sør-Reime and my own ‘Browser’ on the works of Antoni Gaudi in that fabulous city.

Next we have a continuation of the U.S. Postage Stamp, 1870-1900, with parts 5 & 6.…and plenty more to come as we try to present them in related units.

The one concession I made to the weather–with more snow coming down and -6F predicted for tonight–was to save time on a new article by Geir and go back to a 2016 article on the Arab Emirates.

Not exactly new, but new to SNO is a 1936 Plate Reconstruction article by Stanley Ashbrook. Plating is not an activity for me, as I don’t have the patience. It also has become more of a challenge, as many stamps that would be a target for plate reconstruction carry hefty prices; however, let me know if you’re up to the challenge, or at least that the article was of interest to you.

Also, for Fabulous Firsts we have a 2011 reprint of a 1938 article on Sweden by one of the most prolific writers of his era, Bertram W.H. Poole.

Finally, if Plate Reconstruction isn’t taxing enough for you, try deciphering the card in the Herst article. The only question I have is what was the mental state of the card’s writer??

Sooner or later, the snow has to stop.…hopefully before the March issue is due.

Enjoy!
